Our achievements

Papeterie Saint-Gilles has a mission: safeguard, showcase and perpetuate artisanal paper making production. We produce and sell in our store and on line high quality handmade papers traditionally made according to a process that respects nature.

Papeterie Saint-Gilles produces custom-made products, according to the desired quantities. We can print texts and images of various sizes, emboss, create cards or invitations, execute artisanal bookbinding or create wrapping products.

Our papers come in several formats and textures (calendered or not) and thicknesses (220 or 450 GSM). Please feel free to contact us to discuss your project.

> Saint-Gilles papers are made entirely by hand from cotton-based stock and no trees are felled, or bleaching agent added during production. Water and a binding agent are added to the cotton to give the paper a measure of water proofing for writing or printing. We get our raw materials in sheet form, the result of recuperation by the textile industry.

> Our sheets are made one by one and carry a deckle or feather edge on four sides.

> Each sheet is made on a screen: maximum size 19 x 25 inches.

> Artist papers are generally twice as thick as papers reserved for writing and printing.

> Calendered sheets are polished to obtain a smooth surface.

> Non-calendered sheets (rags) are the result of the drying process.

> Two basic colours are available: fine white or old parchment.

> Cotton papers are known for their purity, durability and stability. They are of superior quality and their consistency is greatly increased when compared to wood-based papers.
